The Racing Clubs is divided into four sections: an office, a 3D Printing Room, a showroom, and a DIY Zone. The challenge was to seamlessly merge these areas in terms of style consistency and functionality. The design team, led by Cherry Chiu, has done an exceptional job in achieving this. The space is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, with a unique industrial style and museum-like aura.
The showroom's centerpiece is a showcase shelving installation inspired by the rotating parking tower mechanism. This electrically controlled storage device, built with iron and wood, reinforces the interior style and forms a passage way for visitors to appreciate the collections. The showcasing fixture has become a focal point, drawing attention from visitors.
The design of Racing Clubs is a testament to Cherry Chiu's ability to integrate minimalism with a slight industrial twist. The use of low-quality wood, polished concrete, rusty iron, and concrete brick has created a unique and inviting space. The design echoes the founder's intention to create an environment where enthusiasts can share their joy and knowledge.
The project started in February 2018 in Tamsui, New Taipei City, Taiwan and was completed in June 2018. The design has been recognized for its creativity and innovation, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This award is given to designs that showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
The copyrights of the design belong to No.5 Workroom, 2019. The design is a perfect example of how a space can be transformed to cater to the needs of a specific group, in this case, remote modeling car enthusiasts. It is a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, providing a unique experience for its users.
